OPTION PRICES STRONGER
Further . Restriction of -Shipments
Expected, Owing to Improved Con
ditions for Field Work Oats
Higher on a board Buying.
CHICAGO, March 21. Fresh strength de
veloped In the corn market today, owing
largely to continued falling off tn receipts
m-re and to likelihood that congestion at
tne seaboard would be relieved to a mate
rial extent. Closing prices, althoughun
settled., were He to Vc net higher, with
March $1.7 and May $1.2". U. Oats gained
c to lc and provisions lOtglc to oc.
Emphasis on the reduction of the amoun
of corn arriving was due to definite word
that farmers' deliveries to interior elevators
had diminished considerably, and that the
ausptcioua conditions for -field - work were
likely to restrict still further the movement
from first hands. Announcement of the
seizure of Dutch snips, although a foregone
conclusion, was also regarded by many trad
ers as a bullish factor. Toward the last
the market underwent something of a reac
tion, bexause of stoppage of buying, on the
part or the leading industry.
Active purchasing for tha seaboard lifted
the oata market. Arrivals remained light.
but seeding reports were highly promising,
especially as to Iowa' and Illinois.
Provisions roye with hogs and grain. Pack
ers were .conspicuous buyers of lard.

BRIDGE. SITE IS SOUGHT
.
Lincoln '- County to Build Across
Xaquina River This Year.
TOLEDO, Oi, March 21. (Special.)
L. C. Moweryi of Lower Sllctz, and
Dudley Trapp, of Chitwood, two promi
nent dairymen and farmers of this
county, with County. Surveyor Castle,
today viewed both sides of the Taquina
River preparatory, to locating the new
county bridges across the river. It is
the intention of the County Court to
county - bridge across the river. It is
was contained in the "budget for 1918
expenditures.
The State Highway Commission is
favorable to the- bridge and will fur
nish . plans' and ' specifications, it ii
understood, through its engineer. The
bridge1 will connect the south and
north, part of the county and has been
agitated as a public necessity for 40
years.
The bridge will connect th the
proposed road from Elk City, the
Harlan road nnd with he Bayview
sections.
TOLEDO EXPECTS.LOG ROAD
Miller Line May Be Extended so as
to Gef Timber Out.
TOLEDO, Or., March 21. (Special.)
Steel rails have been going' forward by
wagon to the southern terminus of the
Miller logging road north .of town for
some time past, to be used in an ex
tension of the north end of the road to
the Weasels' spruce tract, where Gov
ernment camps are located. Yesterday
the teamsters were ordered to cease
hauling the rails.
Ths order, it is believed here, means
that the logging road will be connected
with Toledo by rail, thus bridging the
gap between Toledo and; the south end
of the above road. Two huge donkey
engines sjid large quantities of freight
are awaiting shipment into the woods
and as the donkeys carinot be for
warded by wagon, the building of the
Toledo spur would seem to be a neces
sity.
