NAMES OF" MEN CALLED FIRST
AH. 13 PUBLISHED.
The Oregonian is publishing
today the names of Oregron men
who will be called on the first
draft, and of some of those who
will be called on the second draft.
These names do not represent
all the numbers drawn. Very far
from it. The numbers of all the
nearly 10,000,000 men registered
for military service will have
been drawn today, to determine
the order In which every man
will be called up for service.
To publish at this time, how
ever, the names of more than
those who will be called on the
first or second draft would serve
no useful purpose and would be
confusing:.
The names of approximately
twice the number of men re
quired to fill the quotas of the
various counties in the first draft
are included In the published
lists. This Is in accordance with
the War Department estimate
that twice the number of men
needed for the draft will have to
be called up before the quotas
are filled, because of exemptions,
discharges and rejections for
physical disability.
Portland does not have to fur
nish any men on the first draft.
The names of approximately 2000
Portland men who will be the
first called up on the second draft
are published.

The Five-Pointed Star
The ancient Greeks used the five-pointed star as
a symbol of health. It still fulfils this ancient mis
sion, as you will find it imprinted on each pack
age of Chamberlain's Tablets. These tablets have
restored hundreds to health who were afflicted with
indigestion, biliousness or constipation. Give them
a trial when in need of such a medicine, and you are
certain to-be pleased with the prompt relief which
they afford.
