Tarbell, 'the noted woman historian and magazine writer, were completed yesterday. Miss Tar bell will arrive at 7 o'clock this morn ing: and will be the sruest of Rev. and Mrs. W. W. Youngson at a breakfast at the Multnomah Hotel. Promptly at 8 o'clock Miss Tarbell will be taken on a trip over the Co lumbia River Highway. Persons plan ning to make the trip are requested to provide for their own transportation. The trip will start from the hotel. As it is desired to return soon after 12 o'clock, it is probable that the sight seeing party will not go further out than Crown Point, which is considered the "grandstand" of the highway. At 12:30 o'clock a complimentary luncheon for Miss Tarbell will be given at the Multnomah Hotel. J. A. Currle, president of the Pennsylvania Society, will be in charge. Governor Withy combe will Introduce Miss Tarbell, who will make the only extended address at the luncheon. As the assembly room of the hotel lias a seating capacity for no more than 500 persons, tickets will be issued and only persons having tickets will be provided with seats. Immediately after the luncheon Miss Tarbel will leave for Salem, where she will deliver an address. BOY LOSES $10,000 SUIT Rudolph Hafner Beaten In Action for Damages for Wreck. A verdict for M. G. Woodward was returned by a jury In Judge Morrow's court after 24 hours of deliberation In the damage suit for J10.000 brought for Kudolph Hafner by Francis Hafner, Ills gJardian. A sealed verdict was re. turned by the Jury at 5 P. M. Thursday and it was opened yesterday morning. Rudolph asked for judgment in the Bum of $10,000 for Injuries which he sustained when an automobile driven by Woodward struck his motorcycle. Staub es caped from the Cottage Farm a few months ago. He is considered harmless. TORPEDO CRAFT MAY COME Commander Blair Says Naval Mili tia Have Eyes on Goldsborough. The torpedo boat Goldsborough, which has been undergoing repairs at Bremerton, may be brought to Portland within ten days, said Lieutenant Com mander George F. Blair, of the Oregon Naval Militia, yesterday. The cruiser Marblehead is now at Bremerton for repairs and It is probable that the vessel will not be returned to Port land before the latter part of March. When both vessels are In the harbor, the Oregon Naval Militia will be well equipped to provide training facilities for the men. In the meantime a vigorous campaign for new members will be continued. The unit now has 220 members. Efforts will be made to increase the enrollment to 500 men within the next few weeks. A detail of five men from the avia tion section of the Naval Militia left yesterday for the aviation yards of the Navy at Pensacola. Fla, where they will be taught how to operate air planes. (Special ) Under provisions of a law passed by the Legislature It will be compulsory on all who desire to engage in the manu facture of butter and cheese to secure a license from the Dairy and Food Com missioner. This license must be se cured on or before July 1. 1917. and on the first of July of each year there after. A fee of $1 is prescribed.
