Although about 260 precincts of "Washington have not reported, they are mostly small and remote and will not change the re sults already announced. Some of them have only a dozen votes. The majority for President v ilson probably will not go much over 11.000. Governor Ernest Lister. Democrat, who was re-elected over ex-Governor McBride. Republican, will have about the same majority as President Wil son. Miles Polndexter. Republican can didate for Senator, appears to have carried nearly every county in the state. His majority over ex-Senator George Turner. Democrat, Is likely to be nearly do, 000. Nine initiative and referendum meat tires and one constitutional amendment. all of which were defeated, appear to have been carried down together by the appeal made by the anti-liquor campaigners and the labor unions to vote against all ten measures. The two initiative bills, one to per mit serving of liquor In hotels and the other to permit manufacture of beer and its sale by the brewers, were in serted on the ballot between bills on other subjects. The labor unions were especially anxious to defeat the anti picketing bill. SEWARD, Alaska. Nov. 9. Returns from all the populous centers of Alaska give Charles Sulzer, brother of ex Governor William Sulzer, Democrat, of New Tork, a lead of 45 votes over Dele gate James Wickersham, Independent Republican, in the race for delegate to Congress, but Wickersham's friends de clare that the vote from the sparsely settled remote precincts, which always have been Wickersham strongholds, will overcome this lead. Wickersham claims the election by a narrow margin. The vote now stands: Sulzer 5564, f Wickersham 5519. Both the liquor men and the prohi bitionists of Alaska were amazed by the large vote in favor of the prohi bition law, which was ratified Tues day. It is said every Alaska town gave a majority for the bill. JXEPTJBLICAXS WIX IX LEWIS Only Two Democrats Are Elected to County Offices. CENTRALIA. Wash., Nov. 9. espe cial.) K F J I 1 VV Science Confirms the Lore of the Indians Long before the coming of the white man, the Seneca Indians collected mineral o from the surface of water in pits dug in the oil sands. A French mis sionary visited the Western Penn sylvania wilderness in 1627 and was told that the crude petroleum thus obtained was good fot rheu matism and skin diseases. Used internally, the Indians declared, it killed a serpent that lived in he intestines and caused ab dominal pains. Today the twentieth century physician prescribes mineral oil as the safest, most rational treatment for constipation. Nujol is the modern version of the Indian specific. It is not a laxative or a purgative. Its action is to soften the intestinal contents and so make natural movements easy.
