Petitions are in circulation here for i the renominatlon of the three mem bers of the City Council of Albany who retire this year. They are T. H Leigh, of the First Ward; W. C. Tweed dale, of the Second, and Henry Lyons, of the Third. No opposition has de veloped thus far to any of them. These three Councilman are the only officers to be chosen in this year's city election, as the other Counciimen and a full complement of city officers were chosen last year for two-year terms. A proposed city charter amend ment and an ordinance which was re ferred to the people through the ref erendum will also be voted upon at the election next month. EXPOSITION LAND IS SOLD Famous Units to Bo Presented to City of. San FrancItco. SAN FRANCISCO. Nov. 3. Part of the Bite of the Panama-Pacific Exposi tion on the edgre of Fan Francisco Bay was sold today by Mrs. W. K. Vander bilt. of New York, and Mrs. Herman Oelrichs to the Panama-Pacific Expo sition Company for 1114.000 as- the first definite step In preserving and presenting: the famous Exposition Ma rina and the Palace of Fine Arts to tb city of San Francisco. The deal was negotiated by 'William H. Crocker, the San Francisco banker, who la a director of the Exposition Company. Part of the land used as the site for the Exposition is to thrown open to the construction of residences. who were arrested on a charge ot entering; the srlrls' dormitory at the State Normal School Halloween night today pleaded guilty.
