MARSHFIELD. Or., Sept. 25. (Spe cial.) Fred W. Davis, the logger "sky pilot," who has a warm welcome awaitT ing him in all the logging camps of Coos County, when he appears, has been doin a modest missionary work for a number of years in this county, among the rough-and-ready boys who work for Smith - Powers, McDonald & Vaughan, Henry Hoeck, Nonda Ander son, the Aasen Brothers. Clarence Gould, John Conlogue, and the Buehner Company. One of his chief lines of endeavor has been to see that all the camps are sup plied with good reading matter, and of course, a Bible, or several. Mr. Davis believes people of a philanthropic turn have a good work to do if they will chanpre from the old custom of sending out-of-date magazines and periodicals to the camps, and substituting good books. VANCOUVER FARE IS SAME Running Cars Over Bridge Will Make Xo Reduction. VANCOUVER, Wash.. Sept. 25. (Spe cial.) The streetcar fare from Port land to Vancouver will continue to be 15 cents each way, or 25 cents a round trip, after the ' Interstate bridge is opened, notwithstanding expectations on the part of some that it would be reduced. Should the toll feature of the bridge be eliminated, the rate could undoubtedly be cut, but present toll rates will absorb 7 cents of the fare on the round trip. The great value of the bridge will be in time-saving and convenience. It is expected that with the cars running to Vancouver the trip can be made in 28 to 30 minutes, instead of 40 as at pres ent. The lonir walk to and from the ferry, the delay in catching boats or cars will be avoided, and the ride will be continuous. KLAMATH CAMPAIGN OPENS Republicans Plan Three Rallies for This Week.
