THE MORNIXO OREGOXIAX. FRIDAY, SEPTE3IBER 22, 1916. K V VENIZELOS SOUNDS WARNING TO RULER If King Does Not Hear Voice of People, They Will Decide What Is Best toflo. ALLIES' VICTORY FORECAST Ex-Premier Slakes Significant Dec laration That Greece Desires to Have Voice Vhen Terms of Peace Are Made. ATHENS. Sept. 29., via London. Sept. 11. Elitherlus Venlzelos. the ex Premier and Cretan statesman, was asked today as to the truth underly ing the repeated reports that he is going to Saloniki to put himself at the head of a temporary revolutionary gov ernment, and. in reply, he declared to the Associated Press: "I cannot answer now. I must wait a lirlef time yet and see what the gov ernment proposes to do before deciding on the course It will be best to adopt In the event that Greece does not enter the war. "As I said on August 27. if the King will not hear the voice of the people we must ourselves devise what Is best to do. We have had all the financial burdens of war and the cost of main taining a useless mobilization. The morale of the army has been destroyed by Inaction. Then we had a victorious, now we have a beaten army. "We even have more than an entire army corps of Greeks held prisoners of war in a foreign country and already we have paid the Bulgars an immense war indemnity, amounting, in military equipment, property destroyed and loot of Greek cities occupied, to more than $40,000,000. Finally we are, perhaps, on the verge of making now, at last, that war which we have not fought, but have paid for in blood, tears and treasure." "And if Greece does not enten the war," he was asked. Voice in Peace Terms Desired. "If the Germans and the Bulgarians are successful," replied- M. Venizelos. "certainly all of Macedonia is lost to us. You have een what the German and Bulgarian gaarantees are worth in their written pledge that they would not occupy Kavala. Drama or Seres. "It the entente allies are victorious, as I profoundly believe they will be, we risk, first, a separate peace between the allies and the Bulgars, where the latter may be permitted to retain the Greek territory they have occupied with the consent of Greece." "And Saloniki?" it was suggested. "Who is to say," replied M. Venlze los, "that the entente allies may not consider the circumstances neeesMtat- Varsity Fifty Five You've heard of this famous suit for young men; it has become the standard by which all young men's styles are measured.
