OREGON CITY GIRL TO'WED
Miss Mary Sanstrom to Become
'I Bride ol Linn Representative.
Charles Childs. of Brownsville, and
Miss Mary Sanstrom. of Oregon City,
will be married today at the home of
the bride's foster parents, Mr. and Mrs.
J. C. Nash, in Oregon City. The cere
mony will be performed by Rev. W. P.
Klmore. pastor of the Brownsville
Baptist Church. The young couple will
take a honeymoon trip.'
Miss Sanstrom, whose parents died
when she was a small child, is a
graduate from the New England Col
lege of Oratory, Boston. She taught her
art last year, being occupied at Los
Angeles.
Mr. Childs is a well-known rancher
of Linn County and has been a mem
ber of the lower house of the Legis
lature for four years. He has been
nominated for the third term.
BOOTLEGGER IS CONVICTED
Max Linden, Longshoreman, Sen
tenced and Will Appeal.
Max Linden, a longshoreman, was
convicted in Municipal Court yesterday
of selling liquor in violation of the pro
hibition law. Judge Langguth imposed
a. Jail sentence. of 45 days. Notice of
appeal was given by Attorney Pike
Davis, and the bond was fixed at $300.
The arrest was made- by Patrolmen
Schum and Eubanks Monday night at
the Lynn Hotel, Third and Ash streets.
In plain clothes the officers had pur
chased two quarts of whisky and sev
eral rounds of drinks before they made
the arrest.
Patrolman Eubanks said that a petty
officer of the training cruiser Marble
head had informed him that Linden
was peddling liquor among the crew.
DRUGGIST UNDER ARREST
C. W. Yielding Accused of Selling
Alcohol to Drunkard.
C. W. Yielding, proprietor of the Rus
sell pharmacy, at Russell street and
I Union avenue, was arrested yesterday
I on the charge of having sold ethyl al
I cohol to a man of intemperate habits.
I The complaint was sworn to by Public
Defender Robinson. No bail was re
quired of Mr. Yielding, who will appear
before Municipal Judge Langguth to
day. The drunkenness of Pat Kennedy
brought about Mr. Yielding's arrest.
Kennedy purchased the alcohol Mon
day, according to Patrolman Lillis.
Kennedy admits that he was so intoxi
cated at the time that he does not re
member whether he signed the affi
davit, according to Public Defender
Robinson. .
