Mrs. Constance Meyer was the victim of Miss McBride, who won In two straight sets, 7-5, 6-4. Miss McBride played a much steadier game than her opponent. Mrs. Meyer had a handicap of owe 15 on five out of six games. In tne doubles finals Miss McBride and Mrs. Ray Hunt lost to Miss Marie Feldenheimer and Mrs. Rose Matter, after having taken the first set 6-3. The two deciding sets went 6-4, 6-4 for Miss Feldenheimer and Mrs. Matter. Cups were presented to the winners and the runners-up. Miss McBride win ning two handsome trophies and the Miss Irene Campbell tennis racquet to the singles champion. Dow V. walker, superintendent of the Multnomah Ama teur Athletic Club, witnessed the finals, and he made the presentation speeches. More interest was shown in the events than had ever been anticipated, and for this reason Mr. Walker said that the Spring handicap tourney among the women members of the club would be an annual fature hereafter, and should the same amount of interest prevail for the next two months, at least a scratch tournament would be sanctioned by the board of directors for the women's annex. Miss Irene Campbell, ex-Oregon state champion, was given full charge of the tournament by A. B. McAlpin, chair man of the tennis committee, and Miss Campbell was thanked by Mr. Walker for her untiring efforts in making the nrst annual affair such a decided sue cess.
