ENTRY TIME TO SET LINEUP First on List Will Obtain Most Ad vantageous Positions in Race on June 8 as One Feature of Festival Programme. Prizes which six youngsters will re ceive In The Oreg-onian's second annual roller-skating Marathon, to be held in conjunction with the Rose Festival programme, on June 8. are on display in the window of Jaeger Bros.' Jewelry Store. The course has been laid out and entries are pouring in. The official starter, judges of the fin ish, clerk of course, inspectors, time keepers and other officials for the event will be named within a few days. The start and finish of the Marathon will be at The Oregonian corner. Sixth and Alder streets. The entries will be listed and num bered according to the time the blanks are received by the roller Marathon editor. The first entry- received will be numbered one and will be entitled to the best position in the line when the racers are ready for the start. Those who get the high numbers be cause their entry blanks are received late will get less advantageous places in line. The race is restricted to boys rang ing in age from 9 to 14 years and who weigh 125 pounds or less. The par ents or guardian of entrant must also give permission before the entrant will be accepted. Milburn Greenwood, of Ladd School; Clifford Hurlburt and Bill Hurlburt. of Washington High School, and Lionel Hobson, of Ladd School, are the boys entitled to the first four places, as they were the first four to enter. Another entry blank appears in this morning's paper; so, boys, if you desire a good place in line one week from next Thursday morning, frre in your entry blank. Ralph Mul ford and Eddie O'Connell qualified late today for the 800-mile race on the Indianapolis motor speedway, but to night it was announced' that an acci dent to the machinery of O'Donnell's car would prevent his starting. Jack Le cain's car also was in such poor condition that he Is not expected to compete, making the probable list of starters lor the sixth annual sweep stakes 21. Gaston Chevrolet will be given an opportunity to qualify tomorrow morn ing. Robert Dell's car failed to make the required speed of 80 miles an hour for a lap of the track today, and was declared out of the running. Despite heavy rains today, the race will be run if it Is not raining at the time of starting the contest at 1:30 tomorrow afternoon, it was announced. The rain apparently did not dampen the spirits of the thousands of speed enthusiasts who are thronging down town hotels and cafes. Of the 21 probable starters, John Aitken, Josef Christians, Eddie Rick enbacher and Dario Resta are the fa vorites on the betting boards and among the fans. State College team, win ners of the Western division of the Northwest conference, it was announced today. Final examinations have prevented practice since the Willamette game, and with "Bicky" Williams, star moundsman, Ineligible and Weller, catcher, laid up with a split' finger, the team is seriously5, crippled. A rule preventing players from rejoining a club from which they have been re leased until 30 days have elapsed was adopted by the United States Football Association, the National governing body of soccer, at its annual meeting here today. The new rule is intended to break up the practice of clubs lend ing players to organizations that seek to pad their rolls for important con tests. It was decided that in the future each state association with 30 clubs will be entitled to one representative at the National convention, those with more than 55 clubs two, those having 85 or more, three. John A. Farnley, of .New Bedford, Mass., was re-elected president; Doug las Stewart, Philadelphia; George Hea ley, Detroit, and George M. Collins, New Bedford, vice-presidents; Thomas W. Cahill, New York, secretary, and Archibald Blrse. Chicago, treasurer. The meeting arranged for two inter national meetings. One of these will be played in Chicago July. 9 between the Chicago and the Canadian teams. The proceeds will be given to the Brit ish Red Cross. The other will be played in the near future between an Aemri can team and a Scandinavian team. The date has not yet been fixed, but it was decided to hold it somewhere in Scandi navia. About 25 players already have turned in cards for this Portland Club event and an equal number are expected to play 18 holes today. O. H.
