The Jefferson-day celebration which the Democrats are planning as a climax to th.eir county convention April 12 is creating widespread. interest. says Charles D. Kullen, chairman of the committee on arrangements, who esti mates 1500 persons will gather at Dreamland Pavilion. Mr. Mullen is undecided whether to i designate the affair aa an indoor picnic or an old-fashioned house party. By ! way of giving the affair a Jefersonian touch, pages in Colonial costume will meet the guests at the door. There will be various forms of amusement. In cluding dancing. Governor and Mrs. Lister will lead the grand march at 9:o0, after which only part of the spacious pavilion will be given over to the devotees of the dance. For those old-fashioned folks who have not even a nodding acquaint ance with the fox trot and the Castle walk, Mr. Fullen will provide Virginia reels and other forms of dancing from an older day. The Jeffersonian-day celebration properly should be held April 13, but It happened that the Governor and other prominent Democrats had accept ed invitations from fcipokane, and to in sure their presence at the Seattle cele bration the county convention and the entertainment were set a day earlier. Linn County Registration Slow. ALBANY, Or., April 5. (Special.) Not more than 8000 voters out of an estimated voting strength of at least 12,000 will be registered in Linn County lor the primaries. This is the estimate of County Clerk Russell, based on the way registrations are coming in. The total registration up to date is 5831. of which 3716 are men and 20S5 women. Political parties are represented as follows: Republican, 3481; Democratic, 1809; Prohibition. 192; Progressive, 17; Socialist, 122; Independent. 171; re fused to give affiliations, 33; miscel laneous, 6. 3Iarslifield Cleans Vp. MARPH FIELD, . Or., April 5. (Spe cial.) Today was clean-up day in Marshfield, and every business house In the city was closed from morning until 4 o'clock. The leading citizens labored all day in the places where cleaning was most necessary, and the city tonight looks greatly improved. Bonfires started at 6 this morning, and are still burning tonight. Men Will Take Practice Iliie. EUGENE, Or.. April 5. (Special.) The second company. Coast Artillery Corps, with headquarters in Eugene, will make a practice march to Junc tion City, a distance of 14 miles, Sat urday, planning to return the follow ing day.
