Feb. 1. Practically every change asked for by the United Slates Government In Its action against the National Cash Register Company 3f Dayton. O.. under th civil section of tho Sherman anti-trust law. was agreed to by the defendants today when a consent agreement was filed by attorneys for tho defendants and the Government In th United States Uis trl'-t Court. .The Government's litigation against John II. Patterson and the other -6 of ficials and ex-official of the National Cash Register Company under th criminal section of the Sherman law waa dismissed by the court, the costs being assessed against the defendants. Theso costs will amount to about 110, 000. These defendants were convicted in the lower court, but th Circuit Court of Appeals reversed the decision nnd remaiatled the cat a- back to the trial court. (eaapaay Variously Enjoined. The decree in th civil suit enjoins the National Cash Register Company from: Restraining Intercalate commerce. Persuading; purchasers of other makes of registers to break or repudi ate their contracts. Maintaining: a system of espionage on competitors. Illegally securing competitors' busi ness serrels. Inducing men to leave competitors' service. Copying design of rival makers of registers In order to deceive the buyers. Maintaining "knockout men." Discrediting competitors' standing-. Federal Jurisdiction Retalaed. Intimidating competitors by threats of patent Infrlxxcment suits and ac quiring ownership of the business, pat ents and plant of competitors without the consent of the court and the ap proval of the Attorney-General. I nder the terms of the decree, the Federal Court will retain Jurisdiction over the case for th purpose of en forcing the Injunction. - Th dismissal or the criminal rase follows the reversal of the conviction of President Patterson and hia asso ciates by the I'nited States Circuit Court of Appeal and the refusal of the Supreme Court to review the case. An expose and the criminal cases resulted from this suit. Porcupine Is Tamed. OAKLAND, Or., Jan. 31. (Special.) A porcupine, captured in the Cascade Mountains by Roy Miller, of this place, has.een successfully domesticated. At first he rolled himself into a ball and presented nothing but a surface of quills to a curious public. Now he trots around at the heels of his master in a manner unmistakably affectionate, and so persistently that ho sometimes makes a nuisance of himself. Mount Hood Highway Proposed.
