by Welnherd Company.
BAKER. Or., Jan. 14. (Special.)
While crowds watched ln a driving
snow storm today, more than 1500 gal
lons of Welnhard beer was poured into
the aewer in the business part of Main
street. The beer had been kept in stor
age by the Weinhard Company at the
Resort saloon, which was controlled by
the Portland firm.
Many of the onlookers brought pails
with them, but after seven gallons had
been taken the order of Chief of Police
Jackson prohibited the others from
taking a single drop of the contents of
the halfl hundred S2-gallon barrels.
Wistful glance were cast at the
stream of malt liquor and one man
was seen scooping up a handful of
the brown-dyed snow and furtively
tasting It.
