Mission Inn.
"We plan to bring Sioux Indians
from Minnesota and the Dskotaa, as
well as some Apache and possibly
others." continued Diets. "I am going
back to Pullman to help on a glee
club trip and then will return south. '

Incidentally Diets expects to sign
his 11C football coaching contract
while in Pullman. Terms have already
been agreed upon.
Diets was asked for tsstanres of
fakery of Indian customs In the
"movies."
"Oh. there are too many to enumer

too Inconsequential to matter much."
said he- "What would you think of
the motion pictures, however, if they

"I feel sure I can take the Indian

Mistakes Are Appalling.
"To an Indian the mistakes of the
present-day white directors are amus

movies you see Indian women with
bead banda around their heads and a

tvery feather on an Indian brave's

an entire headdress of eagle feathers."
Diets also ridiculed the movies' way
of sending the buck into battle. All
the finery Is left at home, where there

color of the landscape, girds himself
with a bow and arrow or a gun and

HAl'GHTOK SAYS COMMON SENSE
BRINGS HARVARD VICTORIES.
! accesses of Crimson Ascribed to Study
ef Opponents, Fit Men and Ever
C'kaaglag System.
NEW YORK. Jan. 12. According to
Percy Haughton, the Harvard football
coach, the success of the Crimson elev
ens on the gridiron in recent years has
Ifeen due almost entirely to the use
of common sense and thorougii effi
ciency in the training, coaching and
campaigning ot the players as individ
uals and the eleven as a unit. In de
scribing the system, Haughton said re
cently: . .
"Our offensive and defensive meth
ods were based upon an application
of the Germs system of salesmanship.
As I understand iU the Germans never
try to sell in a new territory whatever
they happen to have on hand. Instead,
fliey ascertain what is needed, and
manufacture exactly what is wanted,
and. of course, more cheaply than their
competitors
-So with our football problem, we
learned in. a general way what our op
ponents' were going to do on the of
fense and we met It with different de
fenses. Each of these defenses was
planned to meet a certain kind of play
under certain conditions and the team
was so thoroughly versed In what to
expect from Its opponents that in the
great majority of cases it used the
proper defense against any given play.
"On the offense we studied our oppo
nenta' defensive methods and proceeded
against their weakest point, varying
this principle by pretending to attack
the weak spot and developing toward
what, without the fake, was theoretic
ally a strong territory.
"Each year wo have found it neces
sary lo change the crux of our offense
to meet existing conditions. Now these
methods are not simply the result of
what we have learned during the past
eight years. On the c&ntrary. they are
the accumulations of Harvard football
brains stretching back to the time of
Lewis and Bert Waters. From them
wo learned that to beat Yale it was
necessary to outfight them. From Cam
Forbes, who coached in '7 and '9S, we
learned that to outfight them it was
I . 11 mn to Ho it:
