County Fruit Inspector Nick Johnson condemned two shipments of fruit trees that were brouarht In from the Willamette Valley and Washington nurseries, and the entire lot is lost to their owners. NEW HOSPITAL . OPENED SCORES VISIT EMAM'EL CHARITY BOARD'S HOME. Three Score Hooma In Three-Story Structure Located at Stanton and Commercial Streets. Th beautiful new hospital, erected by the Emanuel Charity Hospital Board, at the corner of Stanton and Commercial streets, was thrown open to the inspection of the public yester day afternoon, and from 2i30 till 9130 scores of people were conducted through the building-. There are three stories to the struc ture. On the lower floor is the kitchen, with lta clean, white equipment, A stairway or elevator may be taken to the two upper floors. Here the rooms are in spotless white. Altogether there are nearly SO rooms, all equipped with high hospital beds, all opening outside by 'means of windows. Many of the rooms were furnished by individuals or by societies of the Swed ish Lutheran churches of the city, the cost ranging about $65 and 175, and some costing above lllio. The surgical rooms are located on the third floor. The hospital ia- under the manage ment of the Emanuel Hospital Charity Board, of which Kev. H. K. Sandstedt. of the Augustana Church, is president Three deaconesses from Omaha are in Kharge, but there will be 20 deaconesses r.ter The hospital cost 120,000. while the equipment cost about JoOOO, and the half block 115.000, making the pres ent investment approximately I40.00J. The hospital is under the auspices of the Columbia conference ot the bwedlsh Church, and Is the only institution, of the church in Oregon.
