On tba northeast corner of Grand
avenue and East Morrison street, a one-
story brick will be erected on the prop
erty of Captain O. W. Honford. Plans
and specifications have been prepared
by Stokes tc Zellar. and bids for exca
vating and brick work are being re
ceived. The structure will replace buildings
that occupy th corner. 90 by 100 feet
Captain Hosford estimates th cost of
the proposed building at $10,000.
This corner Is considered one of the
most valuable In Central East Port
land. Captain Hosford acquired It about
20 years ago at a cost aproximately of
$20,000. The half block. Including this
quarter, between Grand avenue and
East Sixth and fronting on East
Morrison was owned and occupied by
St. David's Episcopal Church. What was
known as tbe Masonic Building Asso
ciation waa formed, which purchased
the corner quarter block on Grand
avanue and Kant Morrison from the
church for $25,000 with the intention
of erecting a Masonic building, but
the stockholders did not pay up. Cap
tain Hosford. one of the original stock
holders, gradually acquired all the
stock of the association and the final
ownership of the quarter block.
The quarter block is valued at $100.
