In many sections of the state these fish are never found, and yet the anglers in these localities do not feel that they ought to be cut out of their Winter fishing, and consequently they catch the native fish at all seasons. Whether this all-tlie-year-round fish ing should be continued is the big question, in some sections of the state the anglers have taken matters in their own hands, and with the help of the State Fish and Game Commiasston, have practically secured a law all their own. The sportsmen along the Upper De schutes Kiver came to the conclusion that in their district Winter fishing was not desirable, and have recently secured an order from the Fish Com mission closing the Deschutes River to all trout fishing from November 1 to April 1. Their move was followed by the anglers around the town of Silver ton, who. through their own efforts. had all fishing in Butte Creek and Abiqua Creek closed between Decem ber 10 and April 1. The question now is: Is it better for each separate body of sportsmen to de cide whether they want Winter fishing in their own particular locality, or whether the ht.t plan will be to tryl and secure legislation agreeable to all sides?
