giving dinner with Mrs. Norman Gait,
his fiancee, and his family. It was said
to be doubtful tonight where they
would dine, although a repast, includ
ing a 35-pound turkey fattened particu

Secretary Garrison left tonight to

SEATTLE. Wash., Nov. 23. Herman
Hcnxe. 41 years' old. committed suicide
by shootincr'hlmself through the heart
while standing In a crowd at Third
avenue and Washington streets tonight.
A short time after his death a long
letter from Henzj was delivered to a
Seattle morning paper, announcing that
ho would kill himself in order that a
book ho had written expounding Chris
tianity should receive publicity.
The letter explained that the man
uscript, had been deposited in a safe
deposit vault, where it would be found
by the Chief of Police, who was to
guard it until the newspapers could
agree which should publish his work.
In his letter Henze said he was born
in Germany and came to the T'nited
