He lor It open before Ihe clerk and' look from It a money order, which ha a.ked Ihe clerk lo rash. Th money order waa for S10J. Th clerk, suspicious, looked up the number of the money order on th list of stolen money order sent each month lo Ih principal hotels by lha I'ostofflce leparlment. and found It listed aa on stolen from Station A. al Tortland. It was quickly ascertained by the Inspector that she waa Innocent of all knowledge of her husband's business. It developed that thl woman, whose nam was Marian Kourllle. had lived at Twentieth and Washington street In an apartment with Mack and Grand vlll and a J. C. Donvlll for some time after the robbery of tSatlon A. The evidence uncovered by th postal In spector tended to show that sh had been duped by Mack and that he had led her to beilev thai she was his wlf when she was not. Ionvllle was arrested for forgery and la now serving time In the Oregon pen itentiary. He has confessed to his par ticipation in the work of the gang, and it is understood that he would tes tify for the Government against the other two. The country In which Mack is now at large Is regarded as almost ideally suited to escaped criminals. Ioubt was expressed by Federal authorities yes lerdar whether Mack ever would be caught. It Is considered certain that he la prepared to fight desperately, for he could b sentenced to the peniten tiary for the rest of hla life on the many charges against him.
