The.te veterans were all members of the Thirty-second Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry, which took a prominent part In the Civil War. marching: with Sherman to the sea. through the Carolina, winding; up at the grand review at the close of the war In Washington. J. F. Babcock. member of this regi ment, and Mrs. Babcock. of Fail River. Wis., arrived last week on a visit at the borne of Mr. and Mrs. Tasker. and they decided to se how many members of their old regiment lived in Portland and vicinity, and found tho following comrades: L. P. Horton. Oregon City; D. Amidon. Portland; S. Wiley. Port land: Canfleld Marsh. Portland: J. F. Tasker. Portland, and Colonel Hamil ton. Portland. A dinner was prepared and served at Mr. Tanker's bom by Mrs. Tasker. assisted by th wives of th other comrades. Story after story was related of their experience on that march, some humorous and others pa thetic. It was 50 years ago since the seven veterans passed through the stirrinc .cenes of the war, but they recalled many of the minute incidents that hap pened then. Three of the comrades present served in the same company nd were In the same mess on the march, and were often detailed to gether on the same duty. At Palaa Beach. "TIow do you likw your hotel.
