(Special.) Women of Australia are seeking- to ob tain equal rights with their sisters of Oregron, and. to this end they have formed a model parliament, delegating Ktta Hooton, of Perth, Western Aus tralia, as their premier, to write to Oregon for Information concerning the "Oregon system In a letter received today by Secre tary of State Olcott from Miss Hooton the latter asks for copies of the initia tive and referendum bill. The en velop containing the communication reads: "Sec. Government Party, Parlia ment House, State of Oregon, U. S. A., America." Miss Hooton writes: Iear Sir: Would it be possible to ob tain from you a copy of the initiative and referendum bill, which I understand has been passed by Parliament and is operating with great success in your state? The re a no i is that a large number of women of this state have banded together and formed a model parliament, with the object of bringing before the public by means of dtseusblon novel and reformative measures which are proving successful in other lands. We shall be so grateful to you if you would forward copies of the said bill and also any others which may come under the above heading. Please also forward bill for name, when I shall have great pleasure in forwarding amount named. If you are not the official person to whom this should be addressed, would you kindly hand It to him? I have the honor to be yours for the uplifting of humanity. ROAD DISTRICTS REDUCED Coos on Verge of Holding Election to Vote $440,000 Bonds. MARSHFIELD, Or.. Sept. 22. (Spe cial.) The County Court of Coos has re-districted the county road areas and the districts have been reduced from 33 to 14. Following the new law, there are eight municipal districts, includ . ing those of Marshfield, Empire. North Bend, Kastside. Beaver Hill, Bandon, Coquille and Myrtle Point. This leaves six districts for the country communi ties and some of them will be of large extent. The county has a road supervisor who will doubtless be retained, as it has been found there is & necessity for a general head. The county is on the verge of holding a good roads elec tion to bond to the extent of 440,000 and the election will "be held in No vember it present plans mature. The plans will be completed at a county meeting at North Bend October 7, when the North Bend Bridge Carnival opens. FIRE CHIEF IS ARRESTED Baker Official Is One of Xlne Run ning Autos AVitliout Tags. The campaign that District Attorney Goodwin has been conducting to make every automobile owner display a license plate on his car has resulted in 10 more captures by Constable Claude Bowman. Klre Chief Frank Urabner was one and the question of whether he should have a tag on an of ficial car is being put up to Attorney Ceneral Brown. Six others received suspended fines for 10 days to allow them to get tags, and three were dis missed. The District Attorneys says he will continue the campaign until all ma . chines are tagged.
