Mrs. Rosamond Roberts Emery died
at the home of her only grandson, tier
man P. Emery, 547 Fourth street,
Thursday, at the age of 101 years. Her.
srrandson will leave with the body next
Wednesday for Bakersiield. Cal., where
the funeral will be held, in accordance
with her last wishes.
Mrs. Emery cast a vote at an a.&
when most persons have given up the
life race. 8he was 33 years old and
was living1 In Pacific Grove, Cal., at the
time. She was escorted to the pells by
townsfolk, and proudly casL lier .iirst
vote for Roosevelt and Governor John
son. She took a keen Intel e3t in public
affairs in spite of her advanced age.
She has lived in Portland since
Augrust, 1913.
Mrs. Emery .was the youngest of a
family of 12 children, and wa3 born
January 17, 1814, at Edinyton. lie. Her
father was 60 years old at the time of
her birth. -She married at the of
17, but her husband died wiir.m five
years. She had one son. Charles H.
Emery, who died at the age oi 70, and
was survived by his only son, Herman
Emery of Portland.
In 1861 Mrs. Emery came west, set
tling in Stockton, and later in Bakers
field, Cal. In 1889 she moved tu Pacific
Grove, which was her home untU 1313.
