Few trapshootlng tournaments held In the Pacific Northwest In the course of the 1915 season had anything on the Beginners' day shoot at the Port land Gun Club grounds at Jenne sta tion yesterday. Sixty-three men who had never shot at a bluerock before were on hand and from all accounts the Portland Gun Club Is one of the leading clubs in the United States in the point of attendance, for begin ners. Beginners' shoots are being held by every gun club in the country. The month of August was set aside for these afaflrs. and, according to the last report of the clubs wnlcn neia their tournaments before August 2Q. the mark of 65 entries was' the rec ord. The local organisation went that mark eight better yesterday. Most of the scores were good. w. P. Akin was the best of the lot, having broken 24 clay pigeons In 25 attempts. He received the handsome gold -watch fob given by the DuPont Powder Com pany. A tie for second honors yesterday at the Jenne station traps resulted be tween Walter A. Hummel and H. R. Everding Is more than pleased with the big turnout yesterday and now he is planning on a special event to take place soon. It was too warm yesterday for msny of the Multnomah Amateur Athletic Club football aspirants to don mole skins, but an even dozen were on hand to greet Captain Rupert.
