WHEAT IS UNSTEADY Frost Reports From Worth west Reflected in Sales. CORN STRONG AT CLOSE Opening With Ldght Demand, Oats Gain Strength That Last All Day Liquidation in Pork Feature of Provisions. CHICAGO. Aug. 26. Wheat was nervous today, the main influence being conflicting opinions of likelihood of frost In tlje North west. Tit close was firm at a net gain of S to H wlti September at 89 Ta and De cember 881. Corn wa strong at th close, H to lc net higher, with September at 744 and Decem ber at (MA,. Oat finished liSH to V, hlrher. provisions 10 if is lower to 12 higher. Later th frost report were again circu lated and ome expert held that Canadlana In making their first assertions that no dam age bad been done, were misled. The entire corn belt showed cooler weath er and predictions were for continuance of It. Frost wa particularly feared, as the crop Is late In being gathered, the recent chilly weather having retarded Its ripening. The market showed firmness through tha last half of the session and buying was active. Oat eased a little after a firm opening. There waa a light demand at first, but com mission houses and cash concerns soon lifted prices and Imparted strength that lasted un til the close.
