(Special.) Opal .mining may become one of the Industries of Umatilla County if the experiments of S. T. Booth and Fred Stone, of La Grande, prove more suc cessful. They are working an opal mine that Mr. Stone discovered near Hidaway Springs while on a hunting trip. Samples brought to town yes terday by Mr. Booth are rated high commercially. The two men. in three weeks have taken out a large number of fine stones. The mine, "The Red Warrior," is about -a mile and a half northeast of Hidaway. Motorcycle Dealer Thrown, Hurt. Bohnenkamp. a motorcycle dealer in this vicinity and one of the chief promoters, of the recent motor cycle races here, was thrown from his motorcycle near Elgin laat night and severely injured. A leg was broken and he was bruised badly. Mrs. Bohn enkamp was riding behind him, but she escaped without injury. The in jured man was brought to La Grande.
