Chaplain of Olymplm House Tells Sail ors War Is Unavoidable at Tlmca, and Advises Good Fight Then. SOUTH BEND, "Wash., June 13. (Spe cial.) Services were held aboard the United States torpedo-boat Fox at this city today. lr. Cotiden, chaplain of the House of Representatives, offici ated. The Fox, under command of Lieu tenant E. A. Bradner, with Albert Johnson, Representative to Congress, on board, arrived from Raymond at 1:30. In his address Rev. Couden said: This being Flag: day, I desire to say to the young men who are training to defend the honor of their country, that I. least of all, want to see war. I have seen war and all its terrors and de vastation, but I want to say -that war is sometimes necessary, and should it ever come you young men mast defend your Nation's honor. We are a. won derful Nation, and the defense of our flag is necessary for the respect of the world." In introducing Rev. Couden, Repre sentative Johnson said he was one of ' the best-known men in the Nation. Mr. Couden is the guest of his son, F. D. Couden, who resides here. The largest class in the history of the Salem High School was graduated Fri day night, when diplomas were given to 64 young women and 33 young men. "The Ideal Education" was the subject of the principal address, which was by Leonard W. Riley, president of Mc Minnville College. He said statistics proved that a common school educa tion added 50 per cent, a high school education 100 per cent and a college education 2J0 per cent to one's capa bility.
