TH13 MORNING. OREGONTAN. MONDAY, APRIL 26, 1915. 11 SWGG The movement for the suitable observance of "Paint-Up and Clean-Up Week," May 4-11, is the first work undertaken by the Civic Bureau of the new Portland Chamber of Commerce. The committee appointed by the Chamber, with George D. Lee as its chairman, will organize a campaign not only to cover the City of Portland but to reach, if possible, every city in the state. The purpose is to encourage Oregon cities to "put on their best dress, that they may present the most attractive appearance possible to the tourists who come through Oregon this Summer on their way to and from the Exposition in San Francisco. The campaigns in other cities will be organized and led by the commer cial bodies in those cities, which are affiliated with the Oregon Develop ment League. In Portland the co-operation of all of the civic organizations, the churches, public service corporations, schools and women's clubs will be sought and the effort will be made to have "Paint-Up and Clean-Up Week" in Portland the most comprehensive campaign of its sort ever conducted here. The week of May 4-11 has been set aside by proclamation of Governor Wifhycombe and proclamation of Mayor Albee, of Portland. Mayors of other cities will be asked to issue similar proclamations. !Let s improve our neighborhood like this" "This street has improved a hundred per cent.- It is a fine example of neighbor hood improvement."
