(Special.) fc The taxpayers of tbe St. Jobns school district at the meeting Friday night in the Central School made a levy of 5.5 mills for maintenance of the schools for the ensuing year. JThis amount was recommended by' the directors. On the estimated $4,000,000 valuation this levy will brins approximately $25,000, which, with the state fund of $15,000 and the $3000 cash on hand, will pro vide a fund of $43,000. Of this about $500 wilf be used to install apparatus In the grounds of the East, North and Central schools. Free text beeks for the grammar grades will continue. Tho levy this year is 2 mills less than that of last year. Dedicator services of the new Seventh Day Adventist Church, Charle eon street and Central avenue, will bo held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The programme will be: Song, congregation; scripture reading; song, "Lead Me All The Way," Mrs. L. E. Folkenberg; financial ' report, Dr. J. V. Bcott; report of treasurer of the build ing committee; rtrahiiscenses, E. D. Hurlburt; transferring building to the church, A. R. Folkenjberg. chairman of the building committee; dedication hymn, male quartet; dedicatory ad dresses, H. W. Cottrell, president Western Oregon Conference, and Elder M. H. St. John; prayer. Elder Cottrell; Bong, benediction. The Bachelor Club will hold a bene fit performance at the Multnomah Theater, December 21, the proceeds to be used for the relief of needy families. The club raised $300 last year for this purpose. Next Friday night a "community ing" will be held in the assembly hall of the James Johns High School. The first part of the programme will be devoted to musical selections by the teachers, high school and gjade school choruses, and the last part to old time Bongs. The singing will be led by Mrs. Coovert, supervisor of school music Admission will be free. PARK BOARD ANNOUNCED Couple, WIio Would Give Tract to Albany, Name Appointees. ALB ANT, Or., Nov. 29. (Special.) Mr. and Mrs. H. Bryant announced Satur day that if the park they have offered to the city as a conditional gift is ac cepted they will appoint H. H. Hewitt, F. M. French, W. S. Richards, Mrs. Hen rietta Brown and Mrs. Albina Martin to serve with Mayor Curl and Charles Carter, chairman of the committee on streets and public property of the City Council, as members of the proposed board to have charge of the park. The question of whether or not the park will be accepted will be decided by popular vote at the city election Decem ber 7. Mr. and Mrs. Bryant donated a 40 acre park to the city under certain conditions and the City Council ac cepted the gift. The referendum was Invoked on the ordinance. One of the provisions is that the don ors will name five members of the park board and that the board will be self perpetuating. Twin Falls Boy Runaway Victim. TWIN FALLS, Idaho, Nov. 29. (Spe cial.) Leland Bennett, a 15-year-old boy, was severely Injured in a runaway when, in company with two other boys in a buggy loaded with several bales of hay. the horse became frightened and ran away. It dragged the vehicle over the guywlre of a telephone le and the boys were thrown out.
