Complete, unofficial, returns from all excepting one small precinct in Clatsop County show the vote on prohibition to be 2171 for and 2206 apainst. ml M IMl W IMJ IM OLD-TIME SHERIFF LOSES Majority for 24.3U6 Later returns on the measures seem to assure the adoption of an additional one the -amendment permitting the merger of adjoining cities upon vote of the respective municipalities. The amendment carried in Multnomah Coun ty by a large majority and in the state outside Multnomah the affirmative ex ceeds the negative vote with only i small lead. It Is apparent that Mult noraah County has carried the measure through. On the other measures that were fairly close on incomplete totals yes terday there has been no material change. The two normal school bills and the amendment permitting con solidation of county and city govern nients have been carried down by the up-state vote, although "they received small favorable majorities in Multno mah County. The dejitlstry bill also i defeated. The totals on the amendment to abolish capital punishment show a fav orable majority of a little less than 100 but the trend of the voting in the state Indicates that it has been de feated. Multnomah County figures are almost complete, while those for the state outside of Multnomah represent but about 40 per cent of the total vote on this particular measure. Inasmuch as the up-state vote has already nearly offset the favorable vote given the measure in Multnomah County, ' it is likely to have been defeated by about S00J votes. This is on the assumption that the present ratios will be main (ained. The following are the incomplete figures on measures in the state at large, including Multnomah County: Amending Voting- Qualifications. 300 Yffs 84,007 SU1 No 17,758 Majority for 60,249 Creating Office of Lieutenant-Governor. 802 Tes 25.18S tivo no .60,713 Majority against City and County 804 Tes 305 No 40,52 Consolidation. 45.243 40,52: TABLE GIVING INCOMPLETE RETURNS BY COUNTIES OX GOVERNOR , AND SENATOR.
