Pistol Eiftht In Saloon Brawl in Which He AIho Is Injured. BAKER. Or., Oct. 4. (Special.) Max Mohr, of Jamesville. Minn., is at St. Elizabeth's Hospital at the point of death as the result of a gunshot wound in his rigrht chest, inflicted early this mornins by T. V. Davis, City Marshal of Haines. The shot was fired during an altercation in Toney's saloon at Haines, Mohr having first fired at Iavis and inflicted a slight flesh wound. The men had been quarreling. Davis, as soon as he was shot, whipped out hia own revolver and rfired, the bullet striking Mohr in the right chest just below the ribs. Bystanders seized Davis, who tried to escape. He was brought to Baker, but "was released later on hia own recogni zance, without a charge being placed against him. County authorities de cided that he was doing his duty at the time of the altercation. The wounded man says he has no rel atives nearer than Minnesota, where his mother lives. His mother has been notified. It is believed Mohr will die. To protect motorists from rain and wind a Wisconsin inventor has patented a water proof skirt which snaps into place with steel rprines at the wuist and ankles. r : : : Portland's Building Directory Chamber of Commerce Building Attorneys.
