Believing that the proposed ordin ance to prohibit the practice ot medi cine, surgery and dentistry on the streets was a move made solely for the purpose of driving "Painless" Parker, a demonstrating dentist, from the streets, members of the City Commis sion wno favored the ordinance oris inally withdrew their suport yesterday ana consigned the measure to the pig eonnoie. un motion or Commissioner Daly the ordinance was indefinitely postponed, commissioner Brewster waa the only one opposing such action. Dr. White Fathers Measure. The measure was sent to the Council two weeks ago by Dr. C S. White, State Health Officer, who, with other physi cians, said the practice of dentistry on the streets was Insanitary and danger ous. At that time Mayor Albee and Commissioner Dieck and Brewster fa vored the measure and it was opposed by Commissioners Daly and Bigelow. An attempt was made at that time to have the measure postponed indefi nitely, but this failed by vote of three to two. When the measure came up for final passage yesterday the Commission as a whole, with the exception of Mr. Brew ster, favored the postponement of the measure. . Individual Aspect Opposed. Mayor Albee declared that while he personally does not like the Idea of dentistry, surgery and medicine being pracucea -upon ine streets, he consid ered the measure as presented to be one aimed at an Individual. raking the measure from this standpoint," said Mayor Albee, "I do not believe it should be enacted by the City Commission.
