The condition of the pear crop throughout the United 8tates. although even more diffi cult to determine than of the apple crop, promise, less than "normal" production this season, although the pear crop Is above the six-year average. The Department of Agri culture estimates It at 68.4 per cent and . the six-year average at 83.3 per cent, or. In other words. It put. this Mason', pear crop at 104. Cel.. and were of fine quality. They sold at $2.30 a crate. . There was a big demand for watermelons and cantaloupes. There were plenty of apricots from The Dalles, but they cleaned up. The first local vrabapples ar rived and were quoted at $1 a box. The last shipment of Independent bananas ar rived ta aa overripe condition. Among the vegetable receipt, was a large shipment of green corn from The Dalies. It was -offered at 0 to 25 cents a doaea. ' The bulk of the small day's business put through at the stockyards yesterday was In the mutton division, where prices did not come up to the former level. Only a few ears of stock arrived. Three loads of lambs were disposed of at price, ranging from J5.50 to J3.90. . Sev eral small lots of ewes were sold, most of them poor grade.
