Portland remained In the first dl .i.inn ahnnt aa lone as -a stage man ager sticks around after a legitimate showhouse has been converted into "movie" palace. " The Beavers' 24-hour shift came to an unusual finish yesterday when the Seals erabbed the second game of the i a rtnwna' line drive In the seventh inning taking a bad bound oyer Lober's head and Dringing in iuo ningr run. nr.'.. .fr.iio nnxr fnr state-wide pro hibition. Minus the bad "hops" we'd have chalked up another victory. Charley Fanning and Southpaw, Krause pitched fair ball. But OLeary's hitting proved too much for the south paw buzzings. It was O'Leary and Schaller who boosted the Seals to a tie score after the Beavers had gained a two-run handicap, and It was the ex Detroiter who started the seventh Inning business that ended in disaster. O'Leary Get Third Hit. One was out in the seventh when O'Leary drew his third hit of the aft ernoon into left. He was forced at sec ond by Schaller. but a passed ball put Schaller on second. He scored from the keystone on Downs' freak double. 'Biff never could have made it had the ball bounced true. For the Beavers Krause was the only batsman of note. Fanning allowed only six hits and Krause bagged two of them. In fact, Harry belted across both of Portland's tallies In the second Inning after doubles by Ryan and Kores. Harry's drive skimmed along the first base line,' Just out of reach of First-Sacker Charles, one of the two. right-hand batsmen thrown Into the breach by Howard to face the south paw pitching. Tobin was the second substitute yanked off the bench. The little speed merchant went to center in Mundy's niche and helped materially in the vic tory. Lead Lasts Net Loir. - Portland's second-Inning lead did not last long, for the Seals evened the score in the third when Krause struck a wobbly streak. Harry Invited the rout by failing to cover first on Fitz gerald's grounder to Derrick, and, as two were out, the southpaw has only himself to blame for defeat. O'Leary followed with a single and Flta scored from second on Schaller's two-bagger. Harry then walked Downs and Tobin and forced O'Leary across with the tying run. A nifty double play In which Corhan and Downs hustled like a stake gang on a circus tent robbed Portland of a run in the fifth after singles by Krause and Bancroft. j Bill Rodgers' spectacular patching around second base for the locals also sent thrills coursing up and down the spines of some 3000 fannettes, on deck enjoying the free admission privileges of ladies' day.
