A movement to bring; the Western Tri Btate League season to a closo next Sunday evening instead of continuing the schedule until July I, was started today -by Robert A. Rundstrom, presi dent of the North Takima dub. He sent a telegram to President Harold H. Clifford, of the Baker club, telling him that gate receipts have been fall ing off alarmingly at North Yakima and other cities on the circuit. He asked co-operation on the part of the local club to end the season two weeks earlier than was intended. Mr. Rundstrom points out that the clubs could prevent an increase of the present deficits by such an action. One point, however, which may keep the league running until July 26 is that if It quits sooner it may lose the pro tection of organized baseball. The rules call for a schedule of 96 games and there are only 96 games scheduled. Violating the rule would make all players free agents and block sales to clubs of higher organizations. It might also give none of the clubs a hold on Its players for next season. The threatened collapse of the league is not charged to Baker, but to the other places, where attendance has been iar below the standard. The Baker club would suffer less than any of the others by continuing the season, but the backers have lost money and by quitting now, it is possible they could prevent additional losses. They can not hope to decrease the deficit in the last two weeks at home. AMERICAN LEAGUE. Philadelphia "iTxew York 0. PHILADELPHIA, July 6.
