Work on the new fair gTofunds build
ings Is progressing Tapidly under the
eupervlalson of H. A. Raught, a Cen
tral! contractor. The largest new
building la near Floral HalL It will
be 40 by 60 feet, so constructed that it
can be enlarged later. This building,
planned by Hubert Miller, the. 18-year-old
son of County Commissioner George
Miller, will house the baby show, an
Innovation at this year's fair.
Mrs. J. M. Schleicher has been ap
pointed superintendent of the baby
show, to succeed Mrs. H. C. Camp, of
this city. The show will be more of
a. "better babies" contest, where moth
ers will be told by experts Just what
their babies need, rather than a prize
winning exhibit.
Work on the county road, from the
south limits of Central ia to the fair
grounds. Is being rushed and the road
will be ready before the opening of the
fair.
The races, a feature of the fair, will
be: August 25, 2:20 pace and 2:25 trot;
purses $500. August 26, 2:14 pace and
2:18 trot; purses 1500. August 27. 2.-08
pace and 2:12 trot; purses $500. August
28, 2:30 trot, 3-year pace and 2-year
pace or trot; purses $500, $100 and $100,
respectively. August 29, 2:24 trot, 2:20
pace and 2:25 pace; purses $500, $200
and $200. Running races will com
mence August 28 and continue four
days.
