Other Services Conducted. Regular Sessions Open. Today. According to reports received yester day at the annual meeting; of the Women's Missionary Conference in the Klrst ITnlted Brethren Church, East Morrison and East Fifteenth streets, 3S0 was raised during the year. This is $80 more than the apportionment. Mrs. Nina Sprecker delivered the an nual address In which she emphasized the need of progressive work and ex tension of activity. Short talks were made by Rev. J. 8. Kendall, of Dayton, O., Bishop Bell and others. Reports received from local societies showed progress. Mrs. Mary Ilinkle, as president, presided. In the afternoon Rev. J. S. Kendall, secretary of the stewardship commis sion, conducted the third conference on lliat subject. He said that the -United Brethren Church had raised $2,500,000 last year by selling ice cream and other food and holding social gatherings, when double that amount might have been raised by tithing and systematic budget plan. Sessions of the conference finance commission and the committee of boundaries and finance were held in the afternoon preliminary to the con ference. Rev. C. Whitney, of Dayton, O., home missionary secretary, arrived yesterday to attend the sessions. Bishop Bell preached last night. The aduitorium was filled. Professor Bill bom, who leads the choir, sang. The ho4r has Increased at every meeting. The song services are said to be spe cially interesting. Regular sessions of the conference will open this morning with the fol lowing programme: Devotion, 9 to 9:30 A. M conducted by the bishop; organization of the conference; miscellaneous business; report of conference superintendent, P. O. Bonebrake, D. ANNA SIMON IS CRUSHED IN LEAP FROM BRIDGE. Derangement Caased by Insomnia Giv en aa Probable Reason for Kf fort t End Life on Canyoa Rocks, While) spectators watched her in helpless horror, Mrs. Anna Simon, a sister of Rabbi Jacob Bloch, attempted suicide yesterday by jumping from the Ford-street bridge to the rocka near the Canyon road below. Mrs. Simon was taken to St. Vincent's hospital, where she now lies at the point of death. The brdig-e is about 40 feet above the road at the point where she jumped. Temporary derangement from insomnia is given as the cause. Mrs. Simon evidently regretted her intention after she had climbed over the rail. She hung, screaming, until PLUMES. Mrs. Helen Ladd Corbett, and her chauffeur, who were passing in an automobile, saw her hanging from the bridge, but had no .time to help her before she fell. Mrs. Corbett went to her aid and soon thereafter went to a neighboring residence to summon an ambulance and a physician. Both Mrs. Simon's legs were broken in several places. She struck head first, and her face was terribly crushed and cut by the rocks. Her condition is regarded as critical. If no Internal Injuries develop, she has -a chance for recovery. Mrs. Simon is a widow. With her son, Nathan M. Simon, she lives at 437 Marguerite avenue. Nathan Simon is a clerk for the John Deere Plow Company. She Is about 50 years old.
