thorises Two New Churches and
Mission. 'Apportionments Made.
EUGENE, Or., April 16. (Special.)
A clearing-house ior Presbyterian min
lsters, to be known as a committee on
vacancies and supplies, was created by
the Willamette Presbytery, as a new
piece of church machinery. Similar
committees are beins created all over
the' United States. Their purpose Is to
bring- 1200 idle ministers and 2400
preacherless churches -together. Selec
tion at present is haphazard. The local
board in the future will call on the
National board in case of a shortage
of supply. The new board, which will
now make all appointments In the Wil
lamette Presbytery, consists of Dr. E.
M. Sharp, of Albany; the Rev. W. H.
McCullough, of Lebanon, and C. F. J.
Koehler, of Brownsville.
Two Presbyterian churches were au
thorized. The '. -ev. I. M. Boyles was
appointed pastor at Blatschley, west
of Junction City, and the Rev. J. E.
Blair, pastor at Gates, near Mill City.
Memorial services were held In honor
of the Rev. H. A. Ketchem, who died at
Salem a year ago.
The Kev. George W. Taylor was
called to the Pleasant Grove group of
churches, at Pleasant Grove, Marlon
and West Stayton. The Rev. W. Mc-
Gree was called by the Fairmount
churches.
The session adjourned to meet May 11
at Albany, where Or. W. Burchett will
be ordained as elder.
Apportionments were made by the
Home Mission Board, as follows: Au
rora, $200; Lake Creek, $450; Craw
fordsville, ?300; Cove Orchard, $400;
Creswell. $300; Detroit, $600; Florence,
isoo; rairmount, 40o; Crrace, Albany,
$300; Gervais. $375; Newport, $150;

membership contest of the Portland
Young: Men's Christian Association will
celebrate their victory with a picnic
to Ross Island tomorrow. They will
be taken there by J. C. Meehan, acting
boys' secretary, who was at the head
of the winning side In the junior de
partment
The clubs in the boys' department
also competed among themselves, and
the Tigers won out. As a reward the
Tigers will be taken the following' Sat
urday on a launch ride to Multnomah
Falls.
