SALEM. Or.; Oct 29. (Special.) Pro
testing their Innocence and denounc
ing capital punishment, Mike Stanos
and Frank Seymour, condemned to be
hanged Friday morning' at 8:30 o'clock
for slaying George Dedeskalous in Med
io rd. declared today that they were
ready to die. Both said they had be
come members of the Roman Catholic
Church, and they had no fear as to
their future life.
In accordance with a rule made by
him before the first execution under
his administration. Governor West al
lowed the newspaper men to Interview
the condemned men today. Stanos is
.a Greek. 21 years of age. His wife,
who stood by him during his trial. Is
In Sacramento. His father, Chris
Stanos. wis killed In Medford several
years ago.
"Seymour and I did not kill Dede
ekalous," said Stanos.
"This Is Hansel; great man Hansel;
named after Governor West," said Os
wald Hansel, sentenced to die for the
murder of Judge F. T. Taylor, of As
toria, os the newspaper men stepped In
front of his cell.
"I did not want to shoot that man.
There was another man Joseph Kopf,
of Olympla that I had the gun for."
"I am innocent," said Lem Woon, ac
cused of killing Lee Tal Hoy In Port
land in 1906. "I never killed that man.
Be was a good man.
This case was appealed to the United
States Supremo Court Great pressure,
however, is being brought to bear for
a commutation of his sentence, and his
friends believe that It will be done.
He Is sentenced to be hanged Friday,
November 7.
