Southpaw Harry Krause bad the An

land turned the tables and captured
the second game, 4-1. Charley Chech
was plugged fairly hard, but poor sup
port was accorded him by the Angelic
Infield. Doane starred at bat -with
three blows and a walk In four trips.
' Krause kept his five hits well scat
tered and only once did the 3000 fans
have anything- to worry about. Howard
opened the ninth by a double past third
and Johnson went safe on a. wide throw
to first by Rodsrers.
Uneasiness vanished In a chorus of
good-natured taunts, however, when
Art Krueger struck out while acting
the role of ye pulchrltudinous pinch
hitter. Arbogast and Ellis were easy
deaths.
Portland Scores First.
Portland scored three runs In the
second inning and led to the finish.
Four of the 11 biffs the Beavers ac
cumulated in this strenuous stanza, yet
two. of the three tallies counted on a
wide heave by Third Baseman Metzger.
In detail Lindsay ambled to first after
being hit on the knee by Chech. Doane
bunted and registered a scratch hit
when Chech threw too late to second.
Johnson mussed up Korea' grounder
through short, which same was put
down as a hit. and Lindsay scored,
Doane being nabbed at third base.
. Berry then grounded out and Krause
took up his trusty bludgeon. His effort
was a grounder to third. Metzger
scooped It. tried to tag Lober. who
dodged, and then threw several yards
over Moore's cranium. Kores and Lober

The Angel'lnfleld put up a holler to
Umpire Finney, basing their protest on
the charge that Lober had run out of
line, but Finney laughed at the kicks
and the scores were put down as offi
cial. Doane Drives In Last Ron.
Doane drove In the fourth run In the
seventh frame, following a walk to

between Moore and the keystone guard-1

The visitors' lone tally accrued in
the sixth when "ft'otell doubled to deep

The day furnished perfect baseball

driving out two bits against his old
teammates. The score:

Notes of the Game.
Krauae twirled a ateady, heady game and
la entitled to much credit.
Page negotiated another stellar play when
he robbed Derrick of a third hit. The lit
tle second sacker got in the way of a drive
that looked good for a aingle to right.
Claude Berry was kept busy pujling down
high files. He Is a bear in that depart
ment. West will likely pitch today, his first
gome for nearly three weeks. Perritt will
likely be the Angel choice.
Berry waa doubled on a hit-and-run play
in the fourth when Chad lined out to Wo
tell. Claude turned and retreated aa Boon
as It was apparent that Wotell had the
ball, but he was out yarda to spare.
Hurl Maggart will be subject to draft
this Fall, and Chicago'a sportsmanship tn
permitting him to remain is liable to prove
costly. Chicago'a chances are now no more
bright tiian any other of the 16 cluba in
the major leagues.

Heat to Airdale in Futurity. .
SALEM. N. H, Aug. SO. Over a
heavy track, the grand circuit horses
filled their second day's engagement at
Rockingham Park today and tha sport
had few thrills, the winners outclass
ing their fields. In each event the
favorite won.
Frank Bogash. Jr.. was the star of
the 2:13 pace, as It was only a question
of bow fast his opponents could make
him go.
Walter Cochato romped away witn
"The Hub" stake. Jones Gentry made
a good try In the initial heat, and
Longworth B. came out of the ruck in
the second.
If Murphy bad not underestimated
the brush of Airdale, he would have
taken the American Horse Breeders'
Futurity for trotting foals of 1811 into
camp with Peter Volo, the world's
champion trotting colt of his age. In
straight beats. In the opening session
he fell short by a head.
James W. had no trouble In annexing
tha 2:10 trot and Baron Penn was a
bandy second in each beat.
