registered preparatory to casting their
first ballots at the referendum elec
tion to be held this Fall. "The women
were timid about starting," says Deputy
County Clerk Shoemaker, "and In order
to get the ice broken I induced my
mother ana wife to register." Two
others have since registered Mrs. Lou
ise Boyden, formerly of Portland but
who Is now living on her Oak Grove
ranch, and Mrs. Helen GHday. also of
the Oak Grove district.
