SAN FRANCISCO, June 10. Presi
dent Al T. Baum, of the Pacific Coast
League, brought word back from Port
land today that Justin Fitzgerald, who
has been with the Beavers since last
season, is all through with baseball.
Doctors have advised the promising
youngster that he will never be able
to throw a ball again. A cord in his
right hand will not permit him to toss
a ball more than 20 or 30 feet.
Fitzgerald playedhls first game with
the Colts yesterday, made two hits

made ft two straight over the Colts at
the ball yard this afternoon, the final
score being 5 to 2. Callahan pitched a
nice game from the third inning, al

hit in the last five innings. They solved
his benders for three hits and a coun
ter In the first Inning, and again in
the third won on two hits and errors
by Melchoit- and Bancroft, which netted
two more.
Both teams fielded miserably at
times, but one earned run crossing the
plate. That was the score registered
by Vancouver in the opening inning.
One of the outstanding features of
the matinee was the work of Catcher
Murray, of the Colts. In throwing- to
bases. On six occasions he nailed a
"luniiic, nve ui mem at seconu, ana
once at third. Kippert stole second in
the first Inning, and Frisk's hit which
followed gave Vancouver the run.
That, however, was the only instance
where the youthful backstop fell down.
Mohler, at second, mussed up a cou

them proved costly.
Two games will be played tomorrow,
the first starting at 3:30, while an
evening game will be played at 6:15.
Fitzgerald signalized his initial ap

Bees Play Miserable Game in Field
and Lose. 11 to 6.
VICTORIA, B. C, June 10. The Seat,
tie Giants took the long end of a slug
fest from the Bees today, 11 to 6. The
Giants jumped on Narveson hard and,
aided by errors on the part of the Vic

Bee dinger sending out distress signals.
Fitzgerald was sent in to stem the
tide, but the Bees continued to field
miserably and the Tilllcums kept on
swatting the ball. Victoria also hit
Merkle hard, but good fielding on Im
part of Seattle kept the score uo
