Clerk of Municipal Court Ilcnles
Shortajrc In Accounts of $474.
A discrepancy of $471 In the accounts
of the officials of the Municipal Court,
as reported In a statement issued by
the New York Bureau of Municipal K-
search. was declared yesterday by the
investifrators of the bureau to be due
probably to an error made In entries.
v. B. Holton, of the bureau, said that
he had found the error in the books
and that the shortage could ba traced
to the period from April 1 to April 11.
"In attempting: to reconcile amounts
of bail receivable shown in the cash
book to amounts for a correspondins
period In the court docket, a, discrep
ancy of $474 was apparent," said Mr.
Holton yesterday.
"This discrepancy conld have arisen
from . ny of the following; causes
anions; others:
1 Lack of complete entries In the cash
book to data.
2 Lack of proper entries In tha court
docket showing cases where, although ball
had been fixed, the opportunity to obtain
releaa upon ball had nut been used by tha
prisoner. (Doubtful.)
3 Lack of proper entries In the court

The usual hand-to-mouth demand haa been
In evidence. Prices are erratic as usual In

news. Buyers and arowers have not yet
really come tojrethr on tha price question,
although some early wools-have been bought,
probably with the idea of making quick re

there is much Idle labor at mill centers, due

CHICAGO. May 2. Unconfirmed reports
of Montenegro s threat to annex ecuiari. in
defiance of tho powers, today gave a strong
close to wheat, though prices showed a net
Iobs of hie to 'iko. Corn finished a

at a net loss of 214 to 16a
. The war situation. In Its latest develop
ment, brought nervousness to- traders and
induced buying of wheat that rallied prices
to the opening figures of the day. The
weak tone of tha wheat market prior to the
final upturn 'was Increased by tha flna do
mestic crop outlook.
Primary receipts of wheat today were
587.000 bushels; last year 823.000 bushels.
Seaboard clearances of wheat - and flour
equalled 606.000 bushels.
Fine weather made a heavy corn market
most of the day. Near tho close there was
a somewhat oversold condition and prices
made a slight rally.
Late covering by shorts helped oatfi, which
most of the day had been weak.
Speculative buying gava strength to pro
visions for a time, but values later eased
off, partly In sympathy with weakening
of prices at tho yards and partly by rea
son of a considerable increase In the world's
lard stock.
