Not only from local organizations, societies, clubs and prominent citizens. but also from cities and states all over the country are arriving dally tele grams and letters for the secretary of the r. M. C A. All express unlimited confidence in the institution and de plore the attack on such an organiza tion by the Dally News. Nashville, Kansas City and San Fran cisco were heard front yesterday morn ing In addition to a score of other places, while in the afternoon came a letter from Dayton, Ohio, inclosing a copy of a local paper. This showed the way in which facts, bandied about from mouth to mouth, become exaggerated and distorted, for after declaring that one man had committed suicide from taking carbolic acid In the T. M. C. A., the Dayton paper went on to quote H. W. Stone at length, when In fact he has never made an announcement on ny of the matters mentioned. It then gave a long list of names and ended by deploring the awful condition of Port land. The Social Hygiene Society replied to the attacks upon the association at a meeting held by the executive commit tee of the society. Talks were made In support of the T. M. C. A. and In condemnation of the attempt to con nect it In an unfavorable way with prosecutions in which its only part was to help the authorities to detect the guilty persons. More than ordinary Interest is being taken this year in the annual city elec tion, which takes place on December 2. A larger number of candidates than usual Is in the field. (Special.) woodrow Wilson received 47.064 votes in Oregon according to the official count, which was completed by Secre tary Olcott today, as far as the presi dential electors are concerned. Theodore Roosevelt was second in Oregon, with S7.600 and Taft third with 84,673. Wilson's lead over Roosevelt was 9464. His lead over Taft was 12,391. Roosevelt's lead over Taft was 2927. The Socialists took fourth place In the race, with 18,829 votes and the Pro hibition high elector received 4360 votes. Carter was the high elector for the Republicans, Watson for the Demo crats, Eaton for the Prohibition party, Butler for the Socialists, and McMahan for the Progressives. In 1908 the Republican party cast 62,630 votes for President, the vote this year for the Republican candidate showing a decrease of 27,857. In 1908 the Democratlo party cast 38,049 votes for President, or an Increase of 9015 this year over 1908. In 1908 the So cialists cast 7339 votes, their Increase for the four years being 6990. The Prohibition vote over 1908 shows an In crease of 1678, their vote in. 1908 being 2682. The vote for the respective electors this year was as follows: . Body of Drowned' Man Found. ' WEDDERBTJRN. Or., Nov. 22. (Spe cial.) The body of L. F. Parker, who was drowned in Rogue River near the Illinois, with his 10-year-old son, last May, while the father was taking the boy across the rfver on a raft to school, was found five miles above here near the Tom Smith ranch last Sat urday. The body had evidently been covered up in the sand until the recent floods had washed It out. The Smith boys found the body floating near the bank, and sent word to Coroner j Walker, who went up Saturday in ' Wesley Miller's launch, and Identified the body as that of Parker's by the shoes, and two missing teeth. No in quest was held and as Mrs. Parker had left the country and no relatives are here, the bones were interred on the river bank near where they were found. The body of the boy has not been discovered. An electrlo railway la planned to run between the City of Mexico. Pueblo and to the rim of the aleeptng volcano of Popoca teptl, which la 15,500 feet high.
