The court referred, to them aa "a couple of children." but held that youns Reynolds, having- as sumed marital responsibilities, should pay at least yo of the $30 a month which he earns as salary to his child wife. They were married September 3, with the consent of their parents, And lived together about a month, residing with Mrs. Dora Hamilton, the bride's mother. The testimony showed that young Rey nolds paid nothing for the board and room of either himself or his wife and had also borrowed money from his parents-in-law. One of the most commend able measures on the ballot at tomor row's election Is the one for the ac quisition by the city of Ross Island and the two adjacent Islands. Ross Island is an Ideal spot for a beautiful park and recreation ground. With a South Portland Bridge and there should and must be one soon so lo cated as to. give easy access to Ross Island, it would be exceptionally well and centrally located for park purposes. What Detroit has done with its cele brated "Belle Isle Park," Portland can do with Ross Island. The use of the other two islands for crematory and jail and contagious hospital and other municipal purposes, as proposed in the plans so carefully and thoroughly worked out by Mayor Rushlight, is highly practical and would solve at comparatively small cost some of the perplexing: problems the city has to deal with. By the proposed measure the city Is authorized to acquire this property by condemnation, which pro tects It against paying too much there for. Tae city Is bound to acquire this property sooner or later, and the sooner it does the better. DAN X MALARKEY. LARCENY CASE DISMISSED Oregon Hotel Refuses to Prosecnte Former Bookkeeper.
