Sixteen boy's from the TorUand Young Men's Christian Association left tlio city yesterday on their annual "hike" to the roast. The boys have a lone, hard walk ahead, but have been fretting themselves in condition for it and expect to have a great time. They are rarryim? their blankets and other camping' equipment. The party took electric cars to For est Grove and from there will , walk to Tillamook and up the coast to As toria, taking the famous trail over Neahkahnie Mountain. They will walk by easy stages, fishing, bathing and having a good time along the way. From Astoria they will take ,the boat to Portland. In the past the Young Men's Christian Association parties have gone to Astoria first and returned to Portland via the. Wilson River road to Irorest Grove. Egyptian Nationalists Arrested. CAIRO. Egypt. Aug. 3. A large number of Egyptian Nationalists were arrested here today on the charge of displaying seditious posters. OTHER CITIES INTERESTED Mayor Receives Inquiries Regarding 3-Cent Fare Ordinance. Other cities of the Coast are becom ing Interested in the ordinance recent- 7 ly passed by the City Council and signed by Mayor Rushlight providing a reduced fare for passengers required to stand on streetcars. Mayor Rushlight yesterday received a letter from J. W. Park, of the Young Men's Progressive League of Ls Angeles, asking for particulars about the measure and what success the city and the streetcar company arc hav ing with its operation.
