Letters reached: Manager C. C. Chap
man's' office yesterday showing that the
Central Oregon cities are going to
take the best possible care of their
guests. Everything that can be done
for the Portlanders is now being ar
ranged. F.. R. Hill, assistant secretary of the
LaTine Commercial Club, says that sec
tion is concentrating alL its efforts on
the one object of impressing LaPine

land visitors. He writes:
"We will erect a barbed wire bar
rier across the road and will plant
some of our best shots nearby to pre
vent anyone from passing through

and fishermen are out after game, all

Alfred A. Aya. vice-president of the
LaPine Commercial Club, writes that

vT. M. Crawford, of Fort Rock, writes
that'he has secured 75 cases of gasoline
for the use of the visiting squadron
of automobiles, and that the farmers
from all over the surrounding country
are coming in to meet the visitors with
the expectation of hearing speeches
from many members ot the party.

(Special.) Laborers employed by Wood
Bros., of Spokane, sub-contractors lay
ing the storm sewers in connection with
the Goldendale street worn, went on a
strike today after being refused an
increase in wages from S2.53 to ?
A few local men working on the job
did not strike. The trouble is said to
have been started by I. W. W. agitators.
Wood Bros, will complete the sewer
work with local men.
