"A city deserted" waa Vancou ver today., with, all o the business houses closed and several thousand of the residents 'n Portland watching the grand Elks' parade. At 8 o'clock today a special train bearing the 200 Elks, in white and purple suits, and 200 friends left for Portland. The ferry accommodated thousands more during the day. One hundred and twenty-nine business nouses and, professional inea signed an agreement to close tor the day and as this included the most prominent places in the city, many others closed (With out signing.
