Cj- Campbell, who died Saturday, Juno -19. was bold yesterday afternoon from the residence at Twen tieth and. Carter streets.. The bouse, porches and lawn were crowded with friends who came to express their sympathy for the bereaved family. The floral offerings were numerous and beautiful. In the course of his ad dress, Dr.' John H. Boyd paid an elo quent tribute to Mrs. Campbell's self- sacrificing- effort in behalf of the sick and needy, as well aa In all phil anthropic and charitable enterprises, and dwelt upon the beauties of her character. Telegraphic advices were received yesterday that the largest steam driven turbo generator ever built for the Pa- . -t .hlnmant to CIHD VUfc - - Portland, and would be loaded on 10 cars at Scheneotady, N. Y., July 8. The machine weighs S35.000 pounds, and will cost when installed 180,000. It has been bought by the Portland Rail way, Light & power company, ana will be erected in Station B at the foot of Twenty-first street. It baa a ca pacity of 10,000 horsepower. The generator is 81 feet at the base, while the turbine is It feet in diame ter. The company is installing this for reserve uses, so as to have the power to produee electricity for Portland dur ing the low stages of water. . The company now has 31,000 horse power in its five steam plants in the city, and with thla 10,000 in addition, will make a total of 81,000. M, Saturday, bound on her. initial cruise into the waters of her home state. Captain Archie Pease, who piloted the big cruiser Maryland from , the lower harbor to Portland and return, has been seleoted to act as cicerone for the Oregon and will make the' run on her from Tacoma, which port she leaves at daybreak Friday, .. . , Arrangements will be completed to day for barges to be moored alongside the battleship here so -that crowds can be handled without trouble or danger, besides another float will be provided for the reoeption of - ashes and other debris from the vessel,.- Shingle MJU Is Busy. . PORT ORFORD, Or, July 3. (Spe cial.) The Port Orford shingle mill is turning out white cedar shingles at the rate of 30,000 dally, most of which are being shipped to San Francisco. .
