THE MORNING OREftONIAN, TUESDAY, JUNE 18, 1912. 1 HOP OUTLOOK FINE Crop Prospects Are Favorable in All Countries MARKET ON THE DEC LIN Downward Movement May Jiot Stop at the Twenty-Cent Mark Xew Crop Offered Yesterday Without Takers. The feeling In the hop market yesterdsy m rery weak. No business wss report ed pot through by local dealers. It wae aid 2 cents waa offered for tnree-oay option tn parta of Polk County, but this did not prevent growerl from offering tneir hope to local dealers at 12 cents. Several such offers were turned down. It will re quire mora than options and talk to keep the market up this season. A week ago It looked aa If bottom would bo reached at 20 cents, but It Is doubtful now If there will be speculative buying at that figure. Most dealers take the Tlew that If the market can decline to 2 cents It can also go to 15 cents. - In some quar ters It Is hollered hops will sen lower si tr hsrrest than before. These are not especially the Tlews of bears and are not expressed for the pur pose of bearing the market, but are based rm the favorable crop prospects everywhere. - This Is a rear when the grower should look the matter squarely In the faoo and not be Influenced by the abnormally high prices paid last year. The California market Is still nominally on a 23-cent basis. Host of the growers In that state have larger holdings than the Oregon growers and they are slower sellers. By holding the California market up now they will only have a harder fall when the expected slump cornea Foreign crop reports are satisfactory. In Germany. Bohemia and other sections of the Continent warmer weather, with ram. - has brightened the outlook. Likewise In England rain has been of much benefit and the vine has made rapid growth, but a fresh attack of fly and lice is 'reported, also mold In some localities. The local market for 1911 bops is also dull and weak. No improvement In America Is expected, but there may yet bo a high market In London for spots, as It la be lieved soma of the dealers are short. Th!a will have no particular effect on the mar ket for the coming crop. WHEAT MARKET DULL, Only UNCHANGED a Few Small Orders Coming From California Weekly Statistics. The wheat market was very dull at the opening. Tho demand waa restricted to a few California orders. The prices quoted were unchanged from last week. Local receipts.
