"But that does not argue that the Naval Militia will not be disbanded. havea plan In view now which 1 will announce later if It la decided not to disband the Naval Militia. But I see no more reason why the Naval Militia ' should exist now than I could see few days ago," said the Governor. Simpson has been examined and has been dis qualified for the position of captain, lie has been comrataaloned aa com mander, and haa accepted. To put him through a bogus examination now would compel ma to take my case to the Supreme Court. I can't stand by and let them go through with a crook ed deal. Under th leadership of the Industrial Workers of the World, the entire crew of 241 men employed by th Stone St Webster Company, con structing the power dam on the White Salmon .River, three miles above this place, went on strike this morning. The men have been working 10-hour shifts for 11.25 and paying the com pany TS cents a day for board. They demanded an increaae of 2S centa a day and better accommodations with reinstatement of all men in case of settlement of the strike. When Informed by the superintend ent that their demand lor Increased pay could not be granted the men quit work and 105 have drawn ' their pay, the others not calling for their time. say the strikers, in order to get a eommodations for th night.
